AOE3054 - Experimental Methods

Welcome to the AOE 3054 - Experimental Methods online course manual. The manual is a dynamic document that is continuously updated as the experiment and course evolve.

The course introduces basic concepts to be able to prepare, execute, and adequatly report the findings from an experiment. The content is divided into two main categories:

Experiments

Material is provided to learn about various basic measurement techniques related to pressure and velocity measurements in wind and water tunnels, as well as strain and displacement measurements (static and dynamic) of structures.

Instrumentation

After describing the basic analog instrumentation needed to setup and operate an experimental setup, the manul shifts focus to the concept and application of digital data acquisition using personal data acquisition system (analog-to-digital conversion, Nyquist criterion, spectral analysis, data storage and analysis, and programming automation).

Any questions or inquiries should be forwarded to the course organizer listed in the navigation pane.
