Dr. James Williams served as Professor and Associate Department Chairman in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at North Carolina State University from 1962 until 1980 where he received numerous Outstanding Teacher Awards. In 1980 he moved to Auburn University where he assumed duties as Professor and Department Chairman of the Aerospace Engineering Department. He retired from the University in 1997.
Dr. Williams was a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Gamma Tau, Pi Tau Sigma, Tau Beta Pi, Scabbard and Blade, and the Blue Key honorary fraternities/organizations. He was the author or co-author of over 55 published research papers and 20 reports. He served as a member and chairman of an engineering panel for the National Research Council and as both an e valuator for and a member of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology.
Sadly, Dr. Williams passed in June of 2004.
