Environmentally responsible systems

In order to advance knowledge and science of aerospace and ocean systems’ contribution to climate change, our researchers collaborate with industry and government on conception, design, and operation of environmentally-responsible aircraft, spacecraft, ships, and submarines. Examples include:
- Efficient, low-emissions propulsion schemes
- Fundamental understanding of turbulence and reactive flows with modern experimental facilities, advanced diagnostics, and large-scale computational tools
- Technologies for online and onboard monitoring, control, and diagnosis of propulsion systems
- Drag reduction and hull/airframe/propulsion integration
- Distributed hybrid-electric propulsion and power systems
- Morphing technologies for drag and noise reduction
